Hey Pacific NW Runners!!

Question ..... are any of you doing the Shamrock Run on March 13th in Portland?

I just learned about it via the Portland Marathon e-mail I just got. Being in Southern Oregon I don't always hear about the things going on up North.

ANYWAY - since I am addicted to registering for races, and getting bling, I am seriously considering registering for the 15K (that gets you the bling!). I'm just working out logistics and getting a place to crash the night before. Only $32 to race seems amazing to me! What a deal!
SO, is anybody else going to do it? Bloggie meet up maybe??  Come on, DO IT!! It looks like so much fun! Beer. Chowder. People in green costumes. Bling. Adidas tech shirt (I love Adidas!!) .... what reason could you possibly have to not sign up and run with the Little Fruit Fly???

  1. Ummm, yeah. I have at last count 5 people signed up under my group...Doing the 15K as a tune-up (just learned that word) for my marathon 4 weeks later. So, I will be there, along with the Mrs, the Brother-in-law, Mrs.' best friend, and Sister-in-law---so far.

  2. Sweet!!
Have you done it before? Is it fun? Is it super duper hard and hilly?

  3. The 15k no, the Shamrock Run itself, yes. And it is a Par-Tay! Is it hilly, yes. Hard, mmmm depends on your training. I live in a town that has hills all around it, so I don't think that Terwilliger is that big of a deal, that's just me though. Well worth the cost of admission.

  4. I shall start adding in more hills to my half training runs then! The pictures made it look so fun. I'm trying to round up a friend of mine to come and do it with me as her first race.

I really just want a medal, dang it!

  5. I did the 15K last year, the medal was also a bottle opener -- how can you resist that?? I plan to do it again this year as part of my marathon training; I didn't think Terwilliger was all that bad last year and I ran it again recently in 36 degree weather as a training run. You're welcome to stay with me if you don't mind (a) an aero bed, (b) two smelly dogs, (c) and a total stranger. Although on the last, be assured I am not an axe murderer. I only own a hatchet ;)

  10. I avoided buying fancy running socks for a long time because of the price. I was splurging one day at the running store and threw in a few pairs of running shoes. Honestly, I don't notice any difference running in the fancy socks versus my knee socks.

Target has a great exercise clothing section. Their stuff is pretty decent quality, for very reaonable prices.

But, the main reason you need to make some sort of pilgramage to Target is the KNEE SOCKS. Seriously, so many, so cheap, and they change them out all the time. At least 75% of my socks are from Target. So awesome.
