Run #39 - Heat, Hills & Humidity

Okay, so I ran in zero heat. It was cold. I ran in zero humidity. But I DID have hills! And I did it in my new RUNATL shirt from the ever so awesome, Lucy! What a freaking awesome early R.A.D. gift. Thank you!!  Next time I'll have to model the awesome cupcake necklace I got from Rad Runner. Thanks to you, too! I seriously love having my own holiday! ;-)

I woke up to snow and figured I was going to miss out on my chance at a nice, short Thursday night run. Well I was wrong! When I opened my mail and saw the new Nike shirt, which fits me absolutely perfectly, I knew I was going to be running. It was cold, but dry, so I felt lucky about that.

The schedule called for 5 miles. I expected zero. So I was pleased when I pumped out 2.5. Sure, it wasn't five miles, but I hit that mark right at my house and I was cold and hungry. I've got two more runs, at least, in Oregon before I go to Florida, then one more in Florida as well as walking the 5K. Basically I feel really prepared. I mean nothing I do now will prepare more than all of the other weeks leading up to this. Where I would naturally be disappointed in such a short run (26 minutes), this time I wasn't! I like this feeling. It is nice to not be so hard on myself for a change!

Also in my mail last night was my "You've Been Chicked" sticker from Jamoosh. Oh yeah, dude at the Run to Stay Warm 5K that I totally blew out of the water at the finish area ... You Were Chicked!!

I have only one more day to get up for work. Woohoo!! Of course that means it is just the start of getting up early while in Florida - but I'll be on vacation so I won't care. My mom and I are so excited..... she has been wanting to go to a Spring Training game in Disney since we saw it all going on last year during the Expo. So today we bought tickets for the first spring training game of the season, and right behind home plate! We'll be seeing the Atlanta Braves (it must be a sign considering the shirt I have on in these pictures!) and the New York Mets. I hate baseball. But now I'm really excited! I think this is going to be so fun. I'll be basking in the sunshine with my Big League Chew bubble gum, my medal and possibly a foam finger! Sounds like a fun way to relax after the Half!

What about you? Ever been to a real baseball game before? Any fun plans for after the big race? Know where I can find Big League Chew? Do they still make it?

  1. I've been to a BoSox game a Fenway, does that count? You can still find Big League Chew at most 7/11's. At least the last time I was in one I saw it and had to explain to my 10 year old that NO, she cannot have it. Have fun in the Sunshine State.

  2. I'm wandering Epcot after the race!! I'm sooooo excited.. It's totally my favorite park, and I never get enough time to meander, shop, and hang out at my favorite countries :D.

A short run is better than no run... one up on me!!

  3. I have been to Fenway to see the Red Sox quite a few times and have even seen them at Spring Training in Fort Myers. You will have so much fun. My kids get big league chew in the summer from like a candy store or the drug store in the candy aisle. After the Princess we are RELAXING and eating:) The weather is supposed to be awesome.

  5. Enjoy your trip and the game. I love baseball games and I guess I take it for granted that it's so close to home. We go all the time!

  6. I hate baseball, but I ove baseball games. Really, any excuse to eat a dozen hot dogs. I have been known to bring books to baseball games. Yes, I'm that person.

  7. OK..this is weird... I LOVE baseball and pretty much I'm trying to organize my whole California vacation around home games. Anway, to the weird part...I JUST now this minute sat down from walking to the Gas Cafe to pick up my cheese sandwich. While there I picked up some treats for my boys. I ALMOST bought Little Feller some Big League Chew as he loves gum, but decided he wouldn't think it was as cool as I did. So looong story short..yes, they make still make it. :) I'd offer to mail you some, but frankly I know my limitations when it comes to mailing things.

  9. My college bf was a pitcher, played for the Cougs and then was drafted by Cleveland and played farm ball in Florida for two seasons. (Then like a dope he blew his knee out playing touch football and got cut. Doofus.) Anyhow, I've been to a zillion baseball games -- little league, high school, college, semi pro and pro. Good thing it's my favorite sport! I'd love to go to spring training some time, still angry that they got rid of minor league ball in Portland in favor of the world's most pointless sport (soccer).

  10. Dick's Sporting Goods has Big League chew. We rounded it up last baseball season.

And, we went to watch the SF Giants at the last minute when we were in SF a few years ago. We could get standing room only tickets. We walked thru the Giants ballpark so my husband could say we were there, then left in the first inning. Good times!

  17. Obviously, I love the shirt.

I have been to a TON of baseball games back in Toronto I would go to at least one Blue Jays game each summer. Since I got married, baseball is a big deal at our house. We try to go to a few Braves games each year, and it is an absolute blast. Even Bella loves baseball and loves going to games, actually I think she loves the atmosphere more than the game. It'll be a ton of fun! I'm very jealous, would love to go see Spring training.

  18. Well done on running your 2.5 and I concur with funderson that they DO sell Big League Chew at the Gaser here in the Butte...if they have it here you should be good because we can be a tad isolated.
