19 Years & Good Bye!

19 years. Now that 2011 is complete I can officially say I have had ZERO candy and ZERO chocolate for NINETEEN years!! Isn't that the most insane thing you have ever heard? I mean I've had more meat in the last 20 years than I have yummy candy! -- and I'm a freaking vegetarian! (In my defense, once I became a vegetarian I have had ZERO meat.) I figure at this point there is no reason to not keep that New Year's resolution going one more year and hit 20!

Yesterday I spent my time packing for Florida. It was overwhelming to know I had to pack for 3 races .... and for various types of weather. Traditionally when I go to Florida, if I pack for hot - it's cold. If I pack for cold - it's hot. So this time I prepared for everything, race wise. I feel good knowing I just have to add in my toothbrush to my luggage and I'm set to go!

However, before I leave town I vow to get in at least 2 miles. I may have to do it during lunch, I'm still not sure. I wanted to run yesterday, but here's my advice ... never eat pizza from a gas station! What? I'll explain. Friday before Christmas my mom worked the Festival of Lights (which we then tried to destroy the next day). Our boss brought everybody some pizza he had picked up at this market -- which is basically a gas station. They all thought it was so good, so she grabbed us some on New Years day to munch on. Clearly they were all drunk and cold when they ate it and thought it was good. It had no flavor ... and gave me such a gut ache - even though I threw it away mid-slice. So I spent my night in a ball, unable to run. I want just one more before Florida. I won't cry if I don't get it in, but I'd like to make it work.

So the point is, it is time. Time for me to head across the country yet again, for my 3rd year in a row of racing in Walt Disney World, but my first for this particular event. I'm still in shock that I'm doing 3 races in 3 days, for a total of 29.3 miles. It will sure be an adventure!  Thanks for all the encouragement you've been giving me as I've been building up to this weekend. It is very appreciated, I think you are all the bees knees. Technically I don't really even understand that phrase, but I'm sticking with it!

I may be back with one teeny race report from my phone later. Otherwise, I'll talk to you next from Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend!

  1. Safe travels! I spent Christmas at my mom's in Orlando and it was ridiculously warm and I ended up wearing the same top every day. Of course the day I left it got cold.
