Cue the Tears

June 17, 2015  What a day! After never hearing from OHSU yesterday I took things into my own hands. Around 9am I called OHSU to see if they even got any results from the lab. The person that answered said they would have Dr. Wu's nurse call me later regarding that. Alright - progress!  At noon my phone rang again. Is this it?? Will I know?? For the 3 hours between phone calls I was miserable. I just wanted to cry. I "knew" the answer, my gut feeling (and all those legit body feelings I am having) told me I am pregnant. But would the blood test agree? Would OHSU ever call??? So when it did ring at noon I was nervous to even answer. Uhhh yeah... the lab hadn't sent them my results yet and they couldn't track them down. I filled them in on where I went and what they told me. The nurse said she would do some calling around and investigate and get back to me.

My mom and I were heading to our standard Wednesday lunch date. Only a couple blocks away from the restaurant and my phone rang again. I tried to compose myself, nervous but excited to hear .... Good news! They had my results, they found them!!! She certainly didn't hesitate to tell me what they said ... "you are VERY pregnant!" I felt like I was silent when she said it, and I tried to reply, but I was crying so much. She was excited for me as well. Mom obviously got to be part of the big moment since she was sitting right next to me. I had wanted to do something really special to let her know when she would be a grandma, well that plan was foiled, but this might have been even better!

On the technical side, they said my HCG number was great, a 419. "Great! I have no idea what that means, but I'm happy if you say it's good!"  She laughed and said they like the number to be over 100 ... well, I guess again I was an overachiever. You want 100+? I'll give you 400+! What is the next step? A second blood test. She put in the order for that and told me to have lunch and celebrate, then go get another blood draw. It was kind of fun to see the same guy from 2 days ago, and we spent time joking around about "long time no see, whatcha been up to". Plus, knowing you are already pregnant makes a blood draw far less tense!

WE DID IT!!!

Tomorrow I am supposed to have a phone appointment after they receive my second round of blood work results.  Anyone wanna take bets on exactly how many little people I am creating? With a number that high, kinda makes me wonder!
