Peach Shortcake

I was browsing my blog and saw I have a blog label of "food". I decided then that I better have more than one blog with that label - and thus, here we are!

I had the yummiest peach shortcake today at work. I've never had it before, so I guess I don't have anything to compare it to. Usually you just have strawberry shortcake - which I LOVE - especially in sundae form, but this peach was very yummy. Light, not filling, tasty, yummy.

Did I mention yummy?

LV in a Nutshell

So many hours, so many stories, so I will keep it short....

  • Friday night we left town to meet Jessica for a yummy Mexican dinner in Keizer.
  • Saturday morning I was up at 2:45 to get ready and to the airport on time.
  • We landed in Las Vegas at 10am (via Phoenix) and the weather was already pretty toasty!
  • I visited many daiquiri stations along the Strip.
  • Excalibur's 26th floor was our "home".
  • The Titanic Artifact Exhibition was as awesome as ever - but the gift shop wasn't. :( We DID get Michael a cool Titanic pocket watch though!
  • The Party Pit! - Excalibur. Dancing Girls. Enough said!
  • French fries from Nathan's ..... still the Best!
  • There was A LOT of spontaneous singing.
  • Sigfried and Roy have some really cool animals. The dolphins were probably my favorite - as always.
  • You can see for miles from the top of the Eiffel Tower .... but should probably NOT go up in mid-July after pounding multiple drinks. Just a little tip for ya!
  • During a drunken state I put a dollar in a slot machine in the Paris casino. The man by me told me I was at a penny machine .... so naturally I played the max bet. I won! I was up 50 cents after my first "pull" - which was really the push of a button - but then we gambled it all away.
  • Bottled water is expensive - but totally worth it.
  • Michael loved Margaritaville as much as I did. We went two times. He says their jerk salmon is the best he has ever had! The two of us enjoyed a variety of drinks from there - its a toss up which I liked best - either the Raspberry Rita or the Havanas & Bananas! That place was totally awesome, a complete party atmosphere. The gift shop took quite a bit of money from us - but now we have new clothes, shot glasses, and a super soft blanket to cuddle up under!
  • We never made it to Circus Circus - and yeah, we really did want to go there. There was a lot of quoting of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". My favorite scene is when they are in Circus Circus. We won't miss it next time!
Overall, we had the best 3 day weekend! We laughed a lot, took tons of photos, made a few silly videos, sang a lot, walked A LOT, drank a lot, didn't eat all that much, collected a lot of "baseball" cards of hookers, a bit of shopping, and more. Just a great time with each other in a fun, new (for us) setting!

I can't wait to go back again - and there WILL be a next time! I'm thinking maybe January. Every 6 months sounds good. Vegas is in my blood now - I can't stay away too long!

(Pictures are on the way soon - stay tuned!)

Pixie Dust? Anywhere?

Burnout has happened again. At this point I don't even know what to do to re-find my accounting "Pixie Dust," if you will. Thank goodness for a few cool co-workers that help keep me sane. I wish I could remember how I recovered my Disney Pixie Dust years ago. I lost it twice, but got it back stronger than ever by the time I hung up my ears and came home. Here I have no ears to wear or straighten. I juts have a big, cold desk in the noisiest, most annoying work environment ever. My job duties themselves - I have fun with that. I don't enjoy doing other people's jobs when they are here and just avoiding doing them. Helping out when things are busy - fine! I'm a team player, I can do that. But doing your job because you want to go walk around and eat? That is what I am not cool with. I am not going to become the office slave and do whatever the lazy asses want me to do. I have my own duties, I want to focus on them and continue to learn more things to help MY job. Not yours. I've never seen people eat as much as I do here. It is very bizarre to me. I can't listen to my iPod anymore - so that means I have to suffer and listen to endless personal phone calls and blaring, twangy country music. I will go postal eventually if something doesn't change. I'm sure I am perceived as a totally unpleasant, unfriendly cold bitch. Really I'm not. I just don't want to talk to you, so I don't. I'm not fake. I won't pretend to like you. I won't boost your ego when it isn't deserved. I won't be some old fashioned country woman that enjoys potlucks and surprise "goodies" for people. I hate the word "goodies" by the way.

I thought my Vegas vacation would have helped me not hate it here. I realize now that its just full-blown burnout and 1 day away from here won't solve it.

If you have any tips on helping me not be miserable for 7 hours of my work day, PLEASE let me know!!!

I guess the good news is there is supposedly a light at the end of this tunnel. I just wish it would get here faster. I don't know what the freaking hold up is actually - which I think adds to the overall annoyance of most of us here. Ugh.

4th of July With the R** Girls

Fourth of July weekend was tons of fun!

I spent the entire weekend at my mom's house .... she has A/C, I don't! Tinker Bell and Lady even joined me out there, although Tinker Bell was pretty much a recluse the entire time. Unfortunately Michael didn't join us until the final day. He had a blast with his family though, so that's good!

Our weekend consisted of music, singing, dancing, drinking, laughing, fireworks, video cameras, cell phone cameras, regular cameras, rafts, river, sunglasses, sunblock, food... you get the idea.

Instead of sharing stories, I'll share the holiday in picture form. Enjoy!

I'm cute, dammit!

I don't tell you how horribly fugly your clothes are everyday - so why comment on mine? Who cares if I am in all black. It is my choice. And I happen to find my outfit today very cute!

SO .... (in conclusion)

SUCK IT!

15 Minute Babble: I'm happy, dammit!

Where does it say that I must smile 24 hours day or else be perceived to be in a bad mood? Is it really necessary for me to sit with a smile while I am staring at invoices, concentrating on numbers, and doing math in my head? Is it possible that I could be in a great mood - yet not smile while my head is down and I am trying to get work done? So really, do you NEED to tell me to "smile" when passing through my work area? Is it possible that you could just let me continue actually working in my great mood, and you continue walking around not doing a damn thing?

Am I genuinely in a great mood? Yes! I had an amazingly fun weekend. I planned an end of the summer Jimmy Buffet party. I played Bocce ball. I danced to Michael Jackson. I made a yummy bowl of fruit. I did some karaoke. I floated the river. I had pizza. I consumed a lot of Bacardi Silver products. I spent the entire weekend with my best friend, her boyfriend, and my darling boyfriend. It was a fantastic holiday weekend. I think we should have 3 day weekends more often! AND I didn't really get that burnt! A little pink here and there, but no pain at all!

AND less than 2 weeks until Vegas!!
