I was in Portland and experienced the following:
- Dragon Boat Races
- Men with VERY high waisted shorts
- Grand Floral Parade
- The most exotic grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had
- Powell's Books -- didn't really leave the running section!
- Tons of naked cyclists
- The coolest "vintage" clothing store
- HUGE ships in town for Fleet Week
- Babysitting??
- The zoo!
- Including multiple animal wieners of various shapes and sizes
- Dexter
- Running shops galore!
There are pictures to go along with some very short stories, but for now I'll leave you with this little "shrine" (??) that we spotted in Downtown Portland near the waterfront.
That man has potato head.
ReplyDelete- Dragon Boat races - very cool. It was also my first time watching those up close and it was cool.
ReplyDelete- Twice we saw this...and all I can say is that it looked way too uncomfortable for me!
- Parade - three plus hours? How can people sit still that long?
- That did look like a yummy grilled cheese...my fries rocked!
- Powell's - you should feel lucky that I was quick...I could spend all day just walking around that store...love it!
- Naked cyclist...next week will be tons as it is the National Naked Bike Ride...imagine several hundred people riding through PDX nude...a very unique and interesting site for sure...and it is at night.
- Magpie (almost 100% sure that was the name) was way cool.
- Ships - always neat to see how large they really are when you are right next to them.
- Babysitting - she even did it for like 15 minutes by herself...and she wasn't duct taped or tied up at all (my nieces were both asleep)...and she did awesome. The girls love Fly.
- Wieners and butts...some of Fly's favorite things...and we (my family) know who to blame if A becomes obsessed with animal butts. We kept the wieners on the DL from the kids...though my brother did find it odd...
- More Dexter needs to be on Netflix...not sure what I am going to do when I finish the next 3-4 episodes...and I must say that I like playing TV catch up more than I like watching it real time...no waiting!
- Three or four running stores...next time can we go to three or four bike shops? Please? At least we got to hit one!
And the weekends are always amazing when I get to spend them with you!
I need photos of naked cyclists... it just sounds uncomfortable!!!
ReplyDeleteNaked cycling? Yowzas - that just sounds uncomfortable. And a good way to rip some seriously sensitive skin off in the heat. OUCH!
ReplyDeleteI love Powell's Books... so many books, so little time!
ReplyDeleteDragon Boat Races? I think I have an idea of what they are, but feel free to elaborate on them in your next post... along with the naked cyclists. That's gotta hurt!
A friend took a picture of the naked cyclists...I will download and send to Fly.
